Barcelona opens the inauguration of the International Year of Light in Spain
Barcelona, February 16 (EFE) .- The theater Poliorama Barcelona has welcomed this afternoon's official opening in Spain of the International Year of Light 2015.This event was one of the starting points of a series of actions that will be developed throughout the Spanish geography along this year.The ceremony has had conferences director of the Theory Division at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (Germany), Ignacio Cirac, director of the ALBA Synchrotron, Caterina Biscari and the coordinator of the Department of Retina of the Barraquer Clinic, Dr. Jerome Nadal.The UN declared 2015 as the year of birth in order to raise public awareness of the importance of science and technology of light, photonics, in areas such as health, energy, communications, education, agriculture or environment.
