Last decades the fibrosis has been measured by the hepatic biopsy, a disruptive technology with significant risks.
With the FibroScan technology we obtain a precocious diagnosis and a valuation of the hepatic fibrosis in a non-invasive way, avoiding 90 % of the hepatic biopsies. Among the 500.000 people affected by Hepatitis C that exist in Spain, 30.000 have also HIV; those people have more problems with the disease.
For these patients, the method FibroScan has developed a few specific cut points that allow us to evaluate the liver inflexibility. From “Centro Medicoquirúrgico ServiDigest”, we want to remember that the virus of the hepatitis C is the reason of almost half of the liver transplants and hepatic cirrhosis and more than 50 % of the hepatocarcinoma.
When the virus of the Hepatitis C advances up to the hepatic cirrhosis, it can cause potentially mortal complications, as a hemorrhage for varicose veins esophageal or a cancer of liver.
