Capsule endoscopy represents a major achievement because it allows the visualization of the entire in a small intestine, by diagnosing many injuries which, to date, went unnoticed.
It is a noninvasive diagnostic method, which is particularly well tolerated by the patient, and which has been considered over more than a decade as the first method for detection of abnormalities in the small intestine.
Capsule endoscopy is a device of about 10 mm x 25 mm, which has inside a light with a camera, that allows, after being swallowed by the patient, the study through images of the section of the digestive tube through which it passes during the examination.
The images are transmitted through the abdominal wall and are recorded on a small portable device which is attached the patient’s body.
The recorded images will be subsequently downloaded so that the doctor can value them and issue a report.
